Before you enroll

Questions from parents.

Which grades can my student enter?

The primary entry grades are Prekindergarten, Kindergarten, 4th, 6th and 9th. GDS also expands enrollment slightly in 1st and 3rd Grade, and may admit students into other grades if space is available. Grade 12 is not an entry year, and admission to it is very limited.

Are test scores required?

Standardized testing is required to apply. Applicants can submit the HSPT, SSAT or ISEE. Applicants to Grades 10 to 12 can submit a PSAT, SAT or ACT in place of the SSAT or ISEE.

Is an interview required?

The first required step is to register for an interview that includes both the applicant and parents or guardians. GDS offers virtual and in-person interviews. At the High School, the interview includes the prospective student and a tour.

What does it cost?

Tuition for 2026-27 is $58,256 for Grades 9 to 11 and $58,606 for Grade 12. Tuition includes athletics uniforms and equipment for 7th to 12th grade participants, all field trips and class overnights, and school supplies and books. Dining services and 1:1 devices are included for PK to 8th grade only. $75, with a fee waiver code available by emailing the admissions office with the child's name and apply grade.

Does GDS offer financial aid?

All financial aid awards are grants and do not require repayment. For 2026-27 GDS allocated $10.4 million in financial aid to 24% of its students, with an average award of nearly $37,000. The financial aid application is through Clarity and is separate from the Ravenna admissions application.

Does need affect admission?

The admissions committee makes its initial decisions without regard to financial need. Because resources are limited, it may ultimately have to limit the number of aid applicants it can accept within the budget.

What is due on January 13?

Supplementary materials are transcripts, teacher recommendations, standardized testing and graded writing samples. Supplementary materials are due January 13, 2027.

When do families hear back?

Admission and financial aid decisions are released in Ravenna at 4:00 p.m. on February 26, 2027. All admitted students have a Shadow Day in March, before enrollment contracts are due.

Is GDSPrep affiliated with GDS?

No. GDSPrep by EduAvenues is an independent service, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Georgetown Day School. Check every requirement and date on the school's own website before you apply.
